From timer to assistant: How Odoo stopped asking you to press start

For years, the Odoo timesheet meant one thing: remember to hit start on a timer, or rebuild your day from memory on Friday afternoon. We replaced that model with the Timesheet Assistant, a passive layer that watches what you actually worked on and lets you confirm it in one click instead of tracking it in real time. This talk walks through how it's built: a local-first companion app that observes windows, browser tabs, and IDE activity on your machine, a rule engine that turns that raw activity into project and task suggestions, and an on-device learning loop that gets better at guessing without any data ever leaving your computer.
